Colombia. Weston announced that it accompanied the commercial chain Grupo Éxito to carry out the implementation of the Retrofit transformation plan in its different supermarket chains, among which are: Éxito Laureles, Éxito Envigado, Carulla Oviedo, in Medellín; Éxito Chapinero, Carulla Santa Barbara, Éxito Sabana and Carulla Quinta Camacho, in Bogotá.
The main objective of this project was to carry out an update of the cold network of these warehouses, which works with refrigerants that are not friendly to the environment (ozone depletors [R-22] and greenhouse gas generators [R-404 R-507]).
"Thanks to Weston's experience and the use of new sustainable technologies, we implemented the use of natural refrigerants such as CO2 and Propane, reducing the total environmental impact and improving energy efficiency in the operation," said Javier Pardo, Weston's product manager.
For this project Weston supplied the parallel cooling systems (racks) assembled with compressors suitable for transcritical cycle work, was also in charge of the supply of coolers, refrigerated furniture, furniture repowering, evaporators for cold rooms, as well as the installation and commissioning of the entire system.
With these projects, Grupo Éxito continues to bet on having efficient and ecological warehouses, work that has been carried out with Weston for 5 years when they made the first transcritical CO2 project in the city of Bogotá.
