El Salvador. El Salvador International Airport, operational since 1980, is the third busiest airport in Central America and serves the San Salvador region. In July 2018, the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA), responsible for the infrastructure of ports, airports and railways in El Salvador, initiated a 20-year modernization and expansion project that will increase the airport's capacity from 1.6 million passengers a year to 6.6. millions in 2032 and triple their carrying capacity in the next two decades.

As part of the first phase of the expansion, MP Service, reliable controls' authorized distributor, upgraded the brand's building automation system previously installed at the airport.
Seven MACH-ProWebCom and five MACH-ProCom controllers were installed that connect larger mechanical equipment to the building automation system via BACnet/IP. MACH-ProWebCom devices allow facility operators to access and control mechanical and electrical equipment over the Internet via a browser user interface.
In the subnets of these master devices there are 46 MACH-ProZone controllers, each with eight inputs and eight outputs; two MACH-ProView LCD controllers; and numerous third-party devices, all of which control 20 chillers, 52 water pumps, four cooling towers, 17 fresh air units, 19 variable coolant flow systems, 21 air handling units, and more than a dozen variable air volume devices.
The flexibility of the RC-Studio software allowed MP Service to integrate more than 80 third-party devices previously installed with Reliable Controls drivers. With RC-Archive software, construction data records are continuously downloaded to an industry-standard SQL database, providing a solid record of construction performance. Today, RC-Reporter provides facility operators with actionable information to improve operational efficiency with readable and reliable reports.
Reliable Controls' original building automation system had been in operation for nearly 10 years without a single failure. The project team faced several challenges during the upgrade, including the COVID-19 pandemic and integration with new technologies. But since the modernization, MP Service is pleased to note that the building automation system has provided energy savings of 7 percent.
MP Service has been a leading authorized distributor of Reliable Controls since 2002. "The 19-year journey has been incredible," says Carlos Moreno Portillo, executive director of MP Service. "We are convinced that Reliable Controls represents a great brand that does things differently, and that's where the greatest value lies. Projects like El Salvador International Airport are not executed every day and we hope to continue growing and bringing development to the country of El Salvador."
