United States. During the last AHR Expo in Orlando, the BACnet International community highlighted a distinguished group of members whose contributions over the past year have led to increased awareness and improvement of the BACnet International partnership and the BACnet standard.
BACnet International President and CEO Andy McMillan presented the awards given to deserving individuals in recognition of outstanding achievement in several categories, including Volunteer of the Year, Rising Star and BACnet Hall of Fame.
Volunteer of the Year
This year, Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Kent Gorrie, webmaster of Reliable Controls. He has been a contributing member of the association for over 15 years, including membership in the marketing committee during all that time. Gorrie developed and continues to manage the association's BTL Listings, Success Stories, Product Catalog and BTL Test Lab websites, and was instrumental in the form and development of the BACnet International website.
Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award is given to an individual fairly new to the industry who has already contributed to the betterment of the BACnet International partnership and showed a commitment to the BACnet community.
The Rising Star Award was presented to Japneet Singh of Johnson Controls. Singh is a postgraduate in computer science from GGSIPU, India, and currently works as a product owner at Johnson Controls. He has over six years of experience in the field of BACnet protocol testing and works with BACnet-enabled integrated controllers and servers in building automation.
Hall of Fame
BACnet Hall of Famers are individuals with at least a decade of significant contributions to the BACnet community.
This year's member is Nancy Stein. Stein has contributed to the development of the BACnet community through leadership at BACnet International, serving on the Board of Directors for more than a decade, and holding leadership roles in product management at Siemens. In addition to building the BACnet community through innovative products, Stein is a member of a fairly small community known as former chairs of BACnet's International Board of Directors, where they have served with distinction.
