International. The automation protocol, KNX, recently launched its new KNX Virtual application, which makes it easier for users to enter the KNX world and with which they can more quickly implement ambitious projects in the area of housing and smart buildings.
The demand for comprehensive, intelligent and secure building automation with KNX is growing worldwide as it is driven by the many advantages of smart homes or buildings.
The KNX Virtual application allows the simulation of real and physical KNX devices and their interaction. The solution is based on the Windows operating system.
Particularly simple functionality
In order to represent all fields of application of KNX as realistically as possible, users of KNX Virtual are subject to requirements similar to those of users of physical KNX products. This means that the ETS system software is also used for the operation of the simulated KNX product.
However, instead of having to connect a real device, the user's computer simply connects to KNX Virtual via a virtual IP interface. So, as with a physical device, only the activation of the programming button is required and all the necessary group objects, applications, topologies, etc. can be downloaded. After making all the adjustments, the user enters the real world of KNX and does not need any additional hardware, such as power supplies, cables, USB or IP interface. Air conditioning, lighting, blind control and many other important applications of the KNX world can now be easily tested by the user.
The smart building network standard has more than 88,000 partners in 164 countries on six continents. With KNX Virtual, a significant increase in users is expected.
