International. On November 1, the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) accepted the proposal of the Government of Chile to hold the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25) of 2019 in Madrid, which was possible thanks to the generous offer of the Government of Spain.
COP25 will take place from 2 to 13 December 2019 at IFEMA - Feria de Madrid.
The conference will be held under the Presidency of the Government of Chile and with the logistical support of the Government of Spain. The President appointed for the conference is Carolina Schmidt, Minister of the Environment of Chile.
The UN Climate Change secretariat stressed that it is working closely with the governments of Chile and Spain to organize the conference as efficiently and quickly as possible.
"Every effort is being made to allow for great participation and to maintain the dimension of exhibition spaces and events as planned. The final list of side events and exhibitions will be adjusted to the space available at the venue," the official statement reads.
Further information will be communicated by the UNFCCC secretariat as soon as it is available. All information about the conference will be published on the website https://www.un.org/es/climatechange/index.shtml
