The Cold Chain is often associated with transporters, retailers, and household refrigerators. But refrigeration is also widely used in the agri-food industry for the storage of raw materials and final products, as well as for food processing.
This overview provides a brief overview of refrigeration applications in the industry. The cooling technologies in use are briefly presented, according to the size of the installation and temperature requirements, and the problems related to the use of refrigerants are also discussed. In conclusion, the opportunities for sustainable refrigeration are briefly explored.
