Chile. The Electrolux Group has announced that it will transfer the refrigeration manufacturing of its facilities located in Santiago, which will move to other locations not yet confirmed by the brand.
The company explained that the increased global use of modular product platforms has also contributed to the decision to discontinue refrigerator manufacturing at electrolux's factory in Santiago, to improve efficiency and the supply of local products.
The facility will continue to produce laundry and kitchen products, which today make up the bulk of its production. The company will assume a restructuring charge related to the closure of the refrigeration production line of approximately US$24 million in the first quarter of 2019.
The charges will be reported as non-recurring items in the first quarter 2019 results, which will affect the commercial areas of Major Appliances North America and Major Appliances Latin America.
