International. ASHRAE has announced a call for its 2019 Student HVAC/R Documentary Competition.
The competition is aimed at students working their Professional (Bachelor) or Master's degree who are ASHRAE members. The winner will represent the Society at the 2019 HVAC Global Student Competition to be held in conjunction with the 2019 CLIMATE Conference, May 26-29, in Bucharest, Romania.
"The ASHRAE HVAC/R Student Competition seeks to recognize the creative achievements of student members," said William Bahnfleth, ASHRAE Presidential Fellow and chair of the 2019 ASHRAE CLIMATE Committee.
"In addition to presenting the high-quality work of an ASHRAE student to the Society, the best entry will represent the Society in the HVAC Global Student Competition, a competition against students from other organizations. ASHRAE will fund the participant's expenses to attend and perform at CLIMA 2019," said Bahnfleth.
A key component of the requirements is the preparation of a paper that is based on an accepted BS or MS thesis. The topic of the article should be in the area of HVAC technology, construction services, indoor environmental control or energy performance of buildings.
Students interested in participating in the 2019 HVAC&R Student Competition must do the following:
- Submit a maximum length of six pages based on an accepted thesis for MS or BS by November 30.
- Make a 10-minute oral presentation on Monday, January 14, in a session scheduled during the 2019 ASHRAE Winter Conference in Atlanta, Ga.
- Prepare a poster for discussion between participants and jurors.
- Participants will be notified after the presentations of the results of the competition.
