Chile. Since December 31, 2017 , the Security and Energy Efficiency Protocols PE No. 1/28 and PE No. 1/28/2, issued by the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels (SEC), for commercial refrigerated furniture used in the sale and exhibition of groceries, came into force.
The scope is for those furniture that have a built-in compressor, that have direct contact with the public and whose length is equal to or less than 3 meters.
PE Protocol No. 1/28 applies to the safety area of this type of furniture, while PE No. 1/28/2 applies to the efficiency area.
The protocol also explains that refrigerated furniture manufactured or imported, in a unitary manner, will not have mandatory energy efficiency certification. If a second unit or more is manufactured or imported, these will be mandatory for energy efficiency certification.
