Mexico. Honeywell confirmed that it made a donation of $390,000 in personal protective equipment (PPE) to Mexico's Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) to support Mexico's recent earthquake rescue and relief effort.
Honeywell donated 50,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to help emergency volunteers dig through the rubble of city buildings toppled by the 7.1 magnitude earthquake. Organized by Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company's corporate citizenship initiative and Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions, they include donations of respiratory and hearing protection equipment, eye and face protection and safety footwear, fall protection, helmets and safety gloves.
"We appreciate Honeywell's immediate support," said Brigadier General José Luis Chiñas Silva de la Sedena. "Protective equipment is crucial in our efforts to find and rescue citizens as quickly as possible. Every minute counts."
"Our thoughts are with the people of Mexico City and the states of Morelos and Puebla who are suffering through this shocking and overwhelming disaster," said Craig Breese, president of Honeywell Latin America. "We are grateful that we can help Sedena and the volunteers who support the daunting task of helping those in need."
