Mexico. The self-service store company, Soriana, equipped its Salinas Victoria Distribution Center (CEDIS) with coolant technology from Danfoss. The challenge was to change the type of refrigerant gas for a more efficient, sustainable one, and that both the facilities and their operation complied with all the safety measures that mark the standards.
For that reason they chose to use ammonia as a refrigerant and Danfoss valves for the entire plant. The company said that currently the installation has ICF valve stations that provide greater safety as it is a weldable solution (without flanges), more compact by reducing the time and risk during maintenance and with less installation time by considerably lowering the amount of welds against a conventional installation, (approximately 850 saving welds).
The product lines acquired by Soriana were the Manual SVL valves, ICS and ICF control valves of Danfoss Industrial Refrigeration in different sizes and ports, as well as GDA and VFD ammonia detectors (frequency inverters) in 6 40hp condenser fans and 7.5hp glycol pump motors of the FLT HVAC Drive family.
With more than 4.3 million square meters of sales floor distributed throughout all its store formats, Soriana sells food, clothing, general merchandise, health products and basic services. Its logistics network is composed of 14 Distribution Centers (CEDIS) located in eight states of the country. With this technology, compared to its other CEDIS, Soriana has a safer, more efficient and easier maintenance installation, the characteristics of the products allow them to make their spare parts inventory more effectively.
"With Danfoss solutions we improve our internal processes and at the same time the service we offer to our customers, delivering fresher and better quality products," said Eng. Hugo Reyes Rodríguez, Maintenance Manager of Frescos Monterrey de Soriana.
The installation process of the SVL, ICS and ICF valves was in charge of the company A. Blasquez E. Refrigeración Industrial, a solution integrator dedicated for almost 80 years to the implementation of industrial refrigeration systems and that since its foundation in 1938, has established itself as one of the most solid companies in the sector and certified by the highest safety standards by IIAR (International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration) and the ASME soldier print. Blasquez offered excellent advice and technical support, so much so that the three recommendations that Soriana makes for other users of Danfoss technology, is the cutting-edge technology, the flexible and accessible line to make own arrangements according to the specific need of the user, and the sense of time when developing new projects.
"At Soriana we are committed to customer satisfaction and for that we create the necessary infrastructure to achieve it. The CEDIS Frescos de Salinas Victoria, has state-of-the-art technology in refrigeration, which allows to keep the products at the temperature required by each of them, extending the freshness until reaching the final consumer. With Danfoss we anticipated and innovated, we had excellent advice and technical support." Eng. Martín Ramírez López, Head of Refrigeration Maintenance at Soriana.
