United States. Mitsubishi Electric US announced that it has installed a 369 kW solar electric system, with its own solar modules, on the rooftop of its U.S. headquarters in Cypress, California.
The system is expected to significantly reduce energy costs and pollutants over the next 25 years.
Mitsubishi Electric PV's 1380-module system was installed in its main building located within Cypress Business Park, using the 690 Diamond Premium and 690 Diamond Pro high-efficiency PV modules. The company said the system can produce 547,865 kWh in the first year of production, and save 85% on electricity costs, which total $2 million over the next 25 years.
Based on current electricity usage, the system is expected to cover 90% of the electrical needs of Mitsubishi Electric's facilities, allowing the system to be amortized in less than five years.
In addition to significant economic savings, the system is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 424 tons per year.
