International. Daikin and Panasonic announced that they have among their plans to make a business alliance to develop and market new generation air conditioning equipment, according to a Japanese newspaper.
The alliance will allow both companies to establish more efficient joint manufacturing processes and also increase their sales in Asia, especially with an emphasis on emerging markets, and also seek to expand their participation in the world through the development of models with lower environmental impact.
The most important leaders of the two companies met recently and there they agreed to start negotiations to confirm the alliance next summer, according to information from the Japanese newspaper Nikkei.
Daikin leads the global market for air conditioners, while Panasonic is one of the leading firms in the Japanese appliance market.
In 2015, Daikin achieved sales turnover of $18.4 billion, a record amount it aims to raise to $27.5 billion for the current year, according to its forecasts.
Panasonic, for its part, expects to double the turnover of its air conditioning branch thanks to the new alliance to reach US $ 6,346 million by 2019.
