International. The International Code Council (ICC) and ASHRAE have partnered to publish the 2015 WEP: Water Efficiency Provisions of the International Green Building Code (IgCC).
The publication is a source of resources in water conservation and efficiency. It includes IoCC's water-related provisions to support jurisdictions facing critical water and drought challenges.
"The updated WEP provides the most contemporary requirements for designers, policy regulators and the construction community looking for ways to address severe droughts and the needs to conserve one of the most precious resources for life — water," said Dominic Sims, CBO, ICC Chief Executive Officer. "WeP provides a concise and comprehensive resource to address the challenges associated with water scarcity."
This compact and easy-to-use reference includes provisions for both indoor and outdoor water efficiency and conservation from the entire IgCC 2015, as well as the International Plumbing Code 2015, Chapter 13 on Non-Potable Water Systems and provisions for water use of the ANSI/ASHRAE/USGBC/IES 189.1-2014 Standard for the Design of High Performance Green Buildings except Low-Rise Residential Buildings.
"Water conservation and efficiency is a critical factor in the design and operation of buildings," said David Underwood, President of ASHRAE. "Given that buildings consume close to 20 percent of the world's available water, this upgrade to the Water Efficiency Provisions is vital to help our industry save significant amounts of water. It contains water efficiency provisions of Standard 189.1, which addresses all aspects of sustainable building design."
The 2015 WEP: IgCC Water Efficiency Provisions covers water efficient plumbing, appliances, landscaping, irrigation, and mechanical systems. In addition, it presents the provisions on the last alternative water sources such as rainwater, grey water and reclaimed water. It promotes the conservation of water associated with both buildings and the construction site including numerous aspects such as systems and components. It can be purchased online in soft paper format or downloaded in PDF.
