Uruguay. In order to fight against climate change, the South American country will begin the construction of six facilities with solar power plants.
The financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the facilities was approved by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which will provide a total of US$85 million.
The photovoltaic plants will be known as Casablanca and Giacote and will be located in the departments of Paysandú, Salto and Río Negro, providing an installed capacity of 69.9 megawatts, which will have the opportunity to offer an average supply of 125.4 gigawatt hours of electricity per year to the national grid, which will allow the elimination of around 74,000 tons per year of CO2 emissions.
