International. A German energy specialist has already launched what is intended to be the world's first scale of production of a chiller that uses water as a coolant. The manufacture of the product is developed as a 45 kW unit, and they ensure that it could save up to 50% more than conventional chillers in its class.
The key to using water as a refrigerant is a patented micro-turbine centrifugal compressor that rotates at up to 90,000 rpm to increase the pressure and therefore the temperature in the water fraction comes out of the evaporator. The resulting steam condenses directly into the remaining cold water stream. The resulting steam condenses directly into the remaining cold water stream.
The use of infinitely variable oil-free turbochargers allows the Chiller's cooling capacity to be continuously adjusted from 10 to 100%, while an intelligently controlled refrigerant circuit allows for efficient modulation in response to changes in ambient temperature.
The company responsible for the development is the German Efficient Energy and its product is known as eChiller.
