Colombia. DuPont designed a concept called Innovation and Collaboration Centers, to bring science closer to customers, strategic partners, governments and academia, and identify needs, anticipate trends, gain insight into and improve product performance, create new solutions or applications, among other demands.
Worldwide, the company has 15 Collaboration and Innovation Centers, which represent a model of idea generation, where you have access to DuPont's global network of more than 10,000 scientists and engineers and 150 Research and Development Centers, so that the solutions used in one country can be adapted to the needs of other regions. Four of them are in Latin America: Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and now, Colombia.
The Innovation Center of Mexico opened its doors in 2012, during the three years of operation they have made sales of $ 26 million dollars. They have also received more than 800 visits from companies and organizations, representing 2,243 visitors. They have also produced more than 679 ideas and 141 opportunity projects, valued at US$73 million, of which 39 have been commercially launched.
Likewise, in Brazil, the inauguration of the Innovation Center has made it possible to accelerate the development of new products and specialized solutions. Since its opening in 2012, 6,200 visitors from 788 companies and universities have come to discuss ideas and projects. More than 2,000 new ideas have been generated, of which 531 were selected by the company and its clients to be developed into more specific projects. Twelve of these projects are already on the market, bringing an additional $25 million in sales to DuPont in Brazil.
In Colombia, the Collaboration Center opened its doors at the beginning of 2015, has already registered the visit of 70 Organizations from different industries: construction and infrastructure, nutrition, protection, packaging and the energy segment. Revenues generated from opportunities identified in this innovation space during these three months exceeded estimated expectations for the full year 2015.
