International. New requirements to further reduce the energy and environmental impact of buildings are found in the 2014 version of the ASHRAE Green Building Standard, the US Green Building Council and the Society of Lighting Engineers.
Standard 189,1-2.014, for the Design of High Performance Constructions, Green Buildings except residential buildings, addresses the areas of sustainability; water use efficiency; energy efficiency; indoor environmental quality; and the impact of the building on the atmosphere, materials and resources.
The 2014 standard incorporates 67 additions, reflecting changes made through the public review process, as the standard was last published in 2011.
The most important changes of the standard have to do with topics such as Energy efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions, and Renewables; Indoor Environmental Quality, Impacts of Construction on the Atmosphere, Materials and Resources; Water, construction and operation plans.
