Heat pump trade remains solid

Shipments of air source heat pumps increased 8.8% during the month of June 2014 to 283,942 units, compared to 260,860 units sold in June 2013, according to the latest statistical report of the Institute of Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHRI).

 

Meanwhile, U.S. shipments of central air conditioners increased 1.7% in June to 673,296 units, up from 662,207 units sold in June 2013. Combined U.S. shipments of central air conditioners and air source heat pumps totaled 957,238 units in June, up 3.7% from 923,067 units shipped in June 2013.

To date, shipments of air source heat pumps increased 15.2% to 1,298,588 units, compared to 1,127,417 units sold in the same period in 2013. Shipments of central air conditioners increased by 5.1% to 2,532,548 units, compared to 2,410,521 units sold in the same period in 2013. While combined shipments of central air conditioners and air source heat pumps increased by 8.3%, to 3,831,136 units, compared to 3,537,938 units sold as of June 2013.
