United States. Emerson Climate Technologies Inc., an Emerson business, announced that it plans to develop a $35 million innovation center on the Campus of the University of Daytona, Ohio, to advance research and education for the global HVAC/R industry.
The Emerson Innovation Center will be a research and training space where Emerson representatives and university faculty and students can come together to focus on technology and best practices to support trends that will drive and affect the future of HVACR.
The center will promote an ambitious collaborative approach to drive innovation, research, and training to create new technologies that address HVACR industry challenges, such as increasing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability, and improving system connectivity. The center's activities will focus on five end markets of the HVAC/R industry: residential air conditioning, commercial air conditioning, food retail, food service, and networks and data centers.
"This facility fills a real and critical need for today's HVAC/R industry. Nowhere else will you find a similar venue where academic researchers and industry participants can come together under one roof for dialogue, and to develop technology solutions across various real-world applications," said Ed Purvis, executive vice president of Emerson Climate Technologies.
Construction of the new facility is tentatively scheduled for October and is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
