Venezuela. A pilot test for the elimination of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) was recently carried out, in a work in which the Ministry of Popular Power for Industries participated through Fondoin, the Venezuelan Cement Industry (Invecem) and the Ministry of People's Power for the Environment.
This is the destruction in the rotary furnace of the cement factory of a total of 207.06 Kg of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC 12) recovered from refrigeration equipment.
With this practice, the protocol on the Destruction of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) was achieved, carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Basel Convention and the Organic Law on Hazardous Substances and Wastes, thus reinforcing the fulfillment of the fifth objective of the Plan de la Patria 2013-2019, related to the preservation of life and the environment, this was stated by the Deputy Minister of Basic Industries, Ramón Ernesto Perdomo.
