Brazil. The refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heating sector estimates a growth in 2013 of 8%, to generate profits of US$ 15,000 million, according to Wadi Tadeu, president of the Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heating (Abrava).
In revenue, the association forecasts that the industry will account for approximately $9.9 billion, driven by frozen transportation and food and beverage storage. Trade would be responsible for $2.4 billion, and services for $2.5 billion.
In the trade, the increase is due to the popularity of "split" type air conditioning models. Ten years ago, according to the association, 60% of the air conditioning segment was concentrated in window equipment and 40% in splits. Today 72% of households and businesses use the latter.
Another reason for the growth is due to the increase in the purchasing power of Brazilians, due to the expansion and modernization of factories and commercial spaces, in addition to the infrastructure expansion works stimulated by the arrival of the World Cup and the Rio Olympics.
