Colombia. The Third Committee of the House of Representatives recently approved the first debate on the bill that proposes to establish guidelines for the formulation of the National Policy on environmentally sustainable construction and provide incentives for its implementation.
As reported by the Colombian Council of Sustainable Construction, the project, which was proposed by Representative Simón Gaviria, had in this first meeting the favorable vote of all the attending representatives.
This new law proposes benefits and incentives for environmentally sustainable buildings. The benefits may be of three classes: Tax (property tax reduction, urban delineation tax); licensing and financing.
It should be noted that the above is without prejudice to the other incentives that may be set by municipalities for the promotion of sustainable construction.
It is expected that during this month the project will go to a second debate in the House of Representatives and would remain subtracting two more that would be carried out in the second half of this year.
