United States. Shipments of central air conditioners and heat pumps amounted to 357,637 units in February 2013, 20.8% more than the 296,011 units sold in the same period of the previous year.
On an individual side, the AHRI report indicates that local shipments of air conditioning equipment increased 22.7% to 231,488 units, compared to 188,603 sold in February 2012. Heat pump shipments grew 17.4% to 126,149 units, up from 107,408 in February last year.
To date, combined transports of central air conditioners and air source heat pumps increased by 19.2% to 658,813 units, compared to 552,697 in February 2012. Likewise, shipments of central air conditioners increased by 19.8%, to 410,980 units, compared to 342,970 sold during the same period of 2012.
In the total of the year, to date, the transport of heat pumps increased by 18.2%, to 247,833 units, compared to 209,727 units sold during the same period of 2012.
