Mexico. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources announced that it will execute plans to gradually reduce the fluorinated gases (F) that are used for air conditioning and refrigeration, through Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (Nama).
The plan will be carried out in order to decrease the weakening of the ozone layer and global warming. Mexico has carried out work in the field of climate change in compliance with the Montreal Protocol by eliminating the consumption of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in our industry and in others such as aerosols and polyurethane foams.
The announcement, published by the local newspaper La Prensa, was made by the Undersecretary of Management for Environmental Protection of Semarnat, Rafael Pacchiano Alamán, during the inauguration of the First Consultation Workshop of Decision Makers for the NAMAs of Gases F in the refrigeration, air conditioning and foam sectors in Mexico.
Mexico currently complies with the hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFCs) elimination plan that it expects to finish in its first phase with the elimination of 30% of national consumption for the years between 2013 and 2018.
