Colombia. The Colombian Association of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (Acaire) revealed that among its 183 affiliated companies, the potential market in air conditioning and refrigeration systems is about US$250 million, a figure that may increase by the end of 2012.
According to Dinero.com acaire's executive director, Claudia Sánchez, the growth of the industry in Colombia for this year is expected to be 10%.
The sector imports 65% of the products, while 35% is assembled in the local environment. In addition, there are about 60,000 people employed within the industry who work for about 5,000 companies of all sizes and related services.
As explained by the executive, the results are due to the investments made in unions such as the hotel, food, as well as the arrival of new shopping centers, clinics, and the positioning of industrial sectors such as mining and oil.
However, the guild associated with Acaire expressed its concern about the absence of regulations in sectors such as health, food, education, entertainment, as well as in corporate offices where the management of equipment is not adequate.
