International. The United States Green Building Council (Usgbc) delayed voting for the 2012 update of the LEED rating system, postponing it until June 1, 2013, and thus renaming the updated LEED v4.
The LEED Certification 2012 was to be voted on in June of this year and launched next November. "This was done 100% in response to the desire of our members to give them a little more time to absorb the changes in this next version of the ranking system. We want to do everything we can to ensure that the market can fully adopt LEED v4, as it represents a significant advance in carbon reduction and human health," said Rick Fedrizzi, President and CEO of Usgbc.
In addition to the change of voting date, the Usgbc will keep the registration open for LEED 2009 for three more years and will continue to ask the markets for assistance in the LEED v4 test test.
Finally, they will take advantage of the annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo (Nov. 14-16, San Francisco) organized by the council, where public forums and educational sessions on LEED v4 requirements, as well as final changes, presentation documents and other improvements will be introduced in the renewed certification.
