Panama. On the occasion of the election of the president of the Panamanian Society of Engineers and Architects (SPIA), which will be held on December 15, the Panamanian Association of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (Apayre) pronounced itself claiming for the unresolved complaints that are filed in the Technical Board of Engineering and Architecture (JTIA).
These complaints allege that many foreigners who do not have the necessary preparation or suitability, work as mechanical engineers in the country, affecting the processes and results of construction projects. Likewise, Apayre reported, current construction projects have been denounced that are in full execution without complying with the legal regulations, not only of the work in general, but also of what has to do with the installation of air conditioning and ventilation. According to Pedro Vásquez McKay, president of the Association, despite the fact that this organization has long requested that the minimum amounts of ventilation that are included in the Air Conditioning and Ventilation Regulation (RAV) be reviewed, the Permanent Advisory Committee on Mechanics has never met and therefore this issue has never been paid attention to. . "For Apayre, the work carried out by the new president of the SPIA is vital, since through him the resolution of these issues that are of vital importance for the sector will be possible," said McKay.
