Colombia. With an investment of US$40 million, the Colombian company Haceb hopes to build the most modern refrigeration plant in Latin America, which will be developed by engineers from this country under the advice of the Italian industry.
The new plant, which would come into operation in 2013, will have the mission of producing refrigerators 40% more efficient in energy consumption; a commitment to sustainability as an axis of differentiation in which the company has wanted to invest, as explained by its manager, Cipriano López.
The company has developed three innovations that lead it on the sustainable path. The creation of the gas passage heater, which guarantees optimal conditions of use at different altitudes above sea level; the creation of an integrated kitchen (inn and gas cooking stations), aimed at the VIS and VIP segments, and finally, the National Design Contest "Haceb proyecta Bienestar" that seeks to encourage the creation of sustainable products among young designers.
"Colombia cannot stop being an industrial country, we must generate differentiating values in an environment of free trade. At this moment we can say, with precision, that we have a state-of-the-art plant worldwide, because we are a modern company and we hope to advance more in this purpose, "concluded López.
