Do you know about green buildings?

Something in which I have agreed with the detractors of the environmental wave is that being green or not, implementing or not this type of systems or the use of them in business is something that has a lot to do with marketing. It is true, and although it hurts to accept it and many tear their clothes with the fact that a consumer sometimes chooses a product based on its environmental commitment, rather than on its capacity or quality, this is a tangible situation and cannot be avoided. The market "gives more and more ball" to the ecological issue.

Green buildings are, in our industry, the paradigms of construction and ecological development. They are like the engineering paradise where we can implement almost any technology without the remorse that comes from knowing that we are preying on the planet.

The market for this type of building is growing significantly, and according to a renowned market research firm, this niche is projected to grow from US$144 billion in developed countries to US$277 billion in 2020.

But the interest is not only in the buildings as such. The same report states that by 2015 the market for energy-saving solutions would reach US$146 billion in the same geographical segmentation, which is a sign that this sector will be an important source of business in the next decade. Consulting services in this segment are believed to show significant growth, also in 2020.

In Latin America, more and more buildings are being built that involve some type of energy savings and more and more governments are promoting the implementation of green practices in the industry.

So if you were one of those who experienced the slowdown of the industry between 2008 and 2009 and are looking for how to innovate, then specializing in this field could be quite fruitful for your company, and of course, for the planet in general.
