The environmental organization SEO / BirdLife considers "fundamental" that there are social, technical and business debates in Spain to lead the responsible development of renewable energies in the face of the challenge of climate change, on the occasion of the celebration of the conference 'For a renewable future', which has the support of the Spanish Office of Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Environment (MARM),
SEO/BirdLife has also advocated debating the most important issues and, in this way, addressing the "multiple challenges" posed by the change of energy model. In addition, he recalled that the effects of climate change in Spain will be "very pronounced", according to a "growing number" of scientific studies, so, in his opinion, the rapid development of renewables is a matter of strategic importance.
"At times, the implementation of renewable energies has been controversial, due to legal or financial uncertainty in incentive systems; due to shortcomings in the environmental impact assessment at the strategic or project level; or because of its relationship with other energy sources, such as fossil fuels or nuclear energy," he explained.
Precisely, the organization has organized these days to deepen this type of issues and achieve "the rapid implementation, but responsible", of renewable energies, efficiency and energy saving, as well as the conservation of biodiversity.
Finally, he pointed out that the document of conclusions with the conference will be distributed among the ministries involved, the regional governments and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, with the aim of offering them a "reference" document when addressing energy issues.
