The environmentalist of the week is actress Sigourney Weaver, 61, who participated in one of the films that has most promoted environmentally friendly interaction in recent years, Avatar, and has taken her role as an inveterate environmentalist very seriously.
Soigourney Weaver traveled to Brazil with the film's director, James Cameron, and his partner, Joel David Moore, to advocate against the construction of a hydroelectric dam in the Amazon that would destroy part of the rainforest and displace indigenous communities that have inhabited the region for centuries, but their efforts were in vain.
What did work was his fundraising for the Dian Fossey Foundation that helped small orphaned gorillas in congo grow healthy, as well as his anti-altitude campaigns and his documentary Acid Test, which warns of rising acid levels in the oceans.
