Email marketing (97%) and corporate websites (96%) are the most used channels for online promotion. Social media marketing (82%) along with SEO techniques or natural search engine positioning (79%) and SEM or search engine marketing (72%) are the other techniques used for online promotion, according to a recent study by the email marketing company Lyris.
The company Lyris interviewed 847 professionals from online marketing agencies, email marketing professionals, online advertisers and consumers to carry out this study.
The most popular means of marketing is direct email, used by 65% of respondents. The mobile channel has not yet become widespread, with only 22% of all respondents sending advertising via SMS through mobile services. Direct email marketing is practically as important as SEM and SEO for marketing professionals.
Metric statistics, the most used tool
A large percentage of all respondents (93%) use metric statistics as a tool to measure the outcome of their email marketing. Other popular online marketing tools are web analytics (76%) and segmentation (70%).
