Colombia. The Biohotel Organic Suites is a facility that has different characteristics that have allowed it to stand out as an ecological facility. The building is located in the north of the city of Bogotá and is in the process of obtaining LEED Gold Certification.
As for energy savings, the installation uses photovoltaic panels with which it expects to obtain more than 5% of the energy it will use for its operation, such as water heating, which is generated by means of vacuum tubes that use solar energy to preheat water. In addition, the entire building has been stocked with LED luminaires.
The interior design of the Biohotel stands out for allowing lighting and natural ventilation. The walls have been thermally and acoustically insulated and the wooden windows are covered with aluminum on the outside to break the thermal gap between the exterior and interior temperature of the hotel.
The space also has other characteristics such as the use of certified procedures that control pollution, generation of green spaces suitable for the rest of guests, application of strategies on water saving, reduction of wastewater and increase of water returned to local aquifers, recycling of gray water, consumption of energy systems for a 30% reduction in energy use, use of energy systems to reduce the deterioration of the ozone layer, contribution to minimize the emission of greenhouse gases, use of materials and products based on certified wood, 90% control of lighting systems, 100% control of thermal comfort by guests, regularly occupied spaces, will have 75% daylight input.
