Argentina. About a thousand square meters will have the cold chamber that will be installed in the local airport of Tucumán and that will fulfill the objective of keeping the fruit load ready for two daily flights.
According to Juan Luis Fernández, executive director of the Institute of Productive Development of Tucumán (IDEP), work is being done on the technical documentation required by the airport authorities and at the same time the works of adaptation of the airport facilities are being carried out.
The project also proposes to have an antechamber of about 500 square meters for the conditioning of the fruit. Fernández assured that they have all the documentation requested by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 and TCA (concessionaire of airport cargoes) so that by the end of this year they will have the definitive facilities of the cargo terminal.
"We want to have very soon permanent structures that serve us not only to dispatch blueberries, but also other types of fruits and products that require the use of air transport," he said.
Likewise, the official announced that this year they will have the incorporation of the airline DHL with 15 aircraft of about 85 tons of cargo each.
