International. A total of 30 proposed addenda and actions related to various ASHRAE standards and guidelines are open for review by the public, allowing interested parties to comment on the technical guidance contained in the documents.
"The public review process allows stakeholders to contribute to the development of standards and their addenda and guidelines," said Jim Vallort, ASHRAE vice president and director of the Society's Technology Council, which oversees standards development. "Through public review, our goal is to achieve consensus, ensuring that the publication of a document has been rigorously examined, questioned and defended. ASHRAE standards are strengthened by virtue of this process."
Actions on addenda, standards and guidelines were approved for public comment at the 2015 ASHRAE Annual Conference held June 27-July 1. Addenda to the main standards open for public review include ASHRAE standards related to thermal comfort, ventilation and indoor air quality for residences, high-performance buildings, building automation and energy efficiency.
