United States. A coalition of U.S.-based manufacturers and other interested parties have filed an anti-dumping petition on imports of refrigerants from China.
The American Hydrofluorocarbon Coalition's petition alleges that unfair imports of certain HFC mixtures and components from China are causing significant harm to the U.S. domestic fluorochemical industry.
The list of refrigerants named in the petition comprises the high global warming potential supermarket gases R404A and R507A, the alternative R404A of R407A, R407C and R410A air conditioning refrigerants and mixed components of R32, R125 and R143a.
The panel alleges that HFC dumping margins range from 100% to over 300%. The petition is being filed in response to large and growing volumes of low-priced imports from China. They claim that imports from China have increased by 60% from 2012 to 2014, and continue to rise steadily. As a result, according to them, manufacturers are losing market share and prices are falling rapidly.
The group is comprised of refrigerant producers Honeywell, Chemours (DuPont), Mexichem and Arkema, along with refrigerant repacker Hudson Technologies and cylinder manufacturers Amtrol and Worthington Cylinders.
