Costa Rica. In order to encourage green construction and the efficient use of resources, the Green Building Council of Costa Rica (GBC-CR) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) presented the EDGE Certification system.
The presentation was made during the development of the International Congress of Green Construction 'Habitat and Sustainable Cities'. With this fact, Costa Rica became the second country in Latin America (after Colombia and Panama) where the certification will be used, which has already been granted to Hoteles City Express.
EDGE Certification is obtained through a formal process, which is led by a trained auditor. The first step to becoming certified is to use edge software during project design.
EDGE Certification is currently being implemented in Colombia, Costa Rica, Indonesia, India, Panama, the Philippines, South Africa and Vietnam.
It can only be used for new buildings, whether houses, hotels, offices, shops or hospitals.
