International. About 96% of the Fortune 200 list of companies surveyed use the LEED green building program to support their sustainability efforts, according to a study by the U.S. Green Building Council (Usgbc) and Keybridge.
Of those surveyed, which spanned 48 Fortune 200 companies, 93% reported that demonstrating a commitment to the environment motivates their company to use LEED. The LEED and Corporate Built Environment survey showed the following:
82% of respondents are likely to continue using LEED over the next three years for new construction or modification projects.
60% of companies surveyed believe that the impact of LEED is positive on their return on investment.
70% stated that they use LEED as a means to save money by becoming more energy efficient.
80% agree that LEED is a key way for their company to communicate sustainability efforts to stakeholders.
The survey, conducted between January and March, was aimed at executives in charge of construction operations or corporate sustainability efforts. A majority of respondents were members of the Usgbc.
