Panama. Around US$6 million was approved by the Budget Committee of the National Assembly in order to strengthen the investment budget of the Ministry of the Presidency to expedite the financial requirements of the Cold Chain.
The Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Augusto Arosemena, explained the request for transfer of departure. "As for the Cold Chain, the markets for harvests are already working," said Deputy Minister Arosemena when asked about the operation of the entity.
He added that David's markets are working and La Chorrera's are under construction, but they will gradually be in operation.
The new Board of Directors of the Cold Chain is integrated, according to the Official Gazette, by two directors appointed by the Executive, Julio Córdoba de León and Benjamín De Dianous; a representative of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), Edwin Candelario Cárdenas; the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Gustavo Valderrama; by the Association of Merchants and Food of Panama, Juan Antonio Villarreal; on behalf of the Association of Consumers of Panama, Allan Castillo, and Virgilio Saldaña, for the Union of Agricultural Producers.
