United States. The new year marked the beginning of new regional federal efficiency standards for residential split systems and package central air conditioners. Guidance on how to meet those standards will be shared in a free session during the ASHRAE Winter Conference, to be held Jan. 24-28 in Chicago.
The rationale for these rules is that america's climate varies greatly; Stricter rules that save money on Mobile can't save as much in Minneapolis. Regional standards ensure that we can achieve as much economic efficiency as possible, assessing profitability more appropriately for different local environments. The rules came into force on January 1, 2015, although there are grace periods before enforcement begins.
Speakers will discuss these new standards during the free session AHR Expo Session, New Regional Standards and the Effects on Different Areas of the HVAC Industry, which will take place from 3 to 4:30 pm on Monday, January 26, at the AHR Expo, McCormick Place, Room S106a. No badge is required to attend.
