Central America. Cuba confirmed the total elimination of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) imports and announced that it continues to work to eradicate hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) in 2013.
As reported by the newspaper World Radio of Venezuela, the Cuban country expects to end the year to have frozen the import of HCFC that are marketed for air conditioning and refrigeration systems as solvents in the cleaning of systems, and in foams.
By 2015, they expect to reduce HCFC consumption by 10% and by 2020 it is estimated that the reduction will have reached 35%, following the agreements of the Montreal Protoclo.
Currently, in Cuba, trainings on good refrigeration and air conditioning practices with HCFC-free alternatives are being developed, as well as informing customs inspectors for the detection of substances and products that arrive.
