Panama. Due to the drought that the Central American country is experiencing these days, the national government expanded the energy saving measures until it rains again in the reservoirs of the main hydroelectric plants.
Within the measures, it has been prohibited to turn on air conditioning systems in schools, colleges and universities public and private. In commercial or industrial companies these systems must remain switched off from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except for equipment with self-sufficiency.
The public sector will also not be able to operate air conditioning systems from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m..
Other requests from the Government indicate that spaces such as casinos, bars, nightclubs, cinemas, supermarkets, among others, must close from Monday to Thursday at 10:00 p.m., except those that have their own power plants.
Likewise, the luminous signs as well as the lights that decorate the buildings can only be turned on from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The above in order to avoid power cuts, while rain falls again on the hydroelectric reservoirs, which is expected to occur at the end of this week.
