International. Hitachi Air Conditioning Europe SAS redesigned 90% of its catalogue to meet the requirements of the ErP regulation, created in Europe, for the improvement of energy efficiency and reduction of environmental impact, which comes into force in January 2013.
The Energy Eco-Design For HVAC Directive requires manufacturers to integrate environmental considerations into the design of their products to ensure a reduction in energy consumption by up to 65%.
To comply with the regulations, all manufacturers of air conditioning equipment must design them and calculate their energy consumption in a more realistic situation than until now with the nominal efficiency values (COP and EER). Specifically, seasonal values must be provided using partial loads and without operating at full performance (SCOP and SEER). The European Union will only consider valid for its manufacture and marketing those models that exceed the minimum seasonal efficiencies set by the ErP regulations.
The manufacturer also introduced efficiency improvements in products that are not affected by the new directive (the ErP regulation only affects products over 12kW).
