Venezuela. The National Experimental University of Táchira (Unet) is renovating its physical plant, a project that includes, among other tasks, the conditioning of the electrical system and the air conditioning system for computer laboratories.
As explained to several media by the head of maintenance of the institution, Jesús Cacique, each room will have a higher air performance since the equipment was repowered and went from offering two and a half tons per room to five.
"The rooms have capacity for 40 people and 40 computers that, turned on, generated a significant level of heating and poor ventilation. This change will be positive," Cacique said.
The project also integrates passive surveillance, street lighting and ccTV systems with passive surveillance cameras interconnected to a security room.
With the aim of integrating the student community to boost learning in the areas of automation, air conditioning and engineering, there are 35 students intervening in the process who are paid under the modality of student assistant under the supervision of technical staff.
According to Jesús Cacique, a building that requires so much use and with so many audiences have a high administrative and executive cost, in addition, in this type of places constant maintenance is vital, he said.
