United States. Nate, the non-profit organization for the certification of HVACR practices, revealed that the number of certified technicians continues to grow, due to the increase in selfless technicians and contractors. Since its inception in 1997, Nate has administered a total of 202,970 tests for HVACR professionals.
About 50 thousand technicians have had the opportunity to show their skills and knowledge and today about 30 thousand technicians continue with their active certification; of that figure, 20% maintain multiple certifications. The first three tests carried out by technicians were Heat Pump, Gas Service and Air Conditioning.
Nate also announced that he is in the process of becoming an accredited Ansi organization, which represents the American National Standards Institute, and has served as the coordinator of the U.S. private sector. Ansi provides a neutral forum for standards policy development and acts as a guardian for standards development and conformity assessment.
