Colombia. The new headquarters of the Isagén power generator, located in the city of Medellín, will have as a façade a vegetal wall covering the block of parking lots; in addition to a green terrace that will facilitate the natural air conditioning of the 25,000 square meters that will compose it.
The design will take advantage of natural light through three skylights on the terrace of the office building, high-efficiency luminaires will be incorporated and there will be an automated lighting control system for better performance in electricity consumption.
For Luis Fernando Rico Pinzón, manager of Isagén, "the differentiating aspects of the new building are in the efficient use of natural resources to contribute to the environmental sustainability of the planet, in the use of wood from certified forests, recyclable materials, as well as materials that reduce interior noise.
Additionally, the building, which will be ready by the end of 2012, will use refrigerants and firefighting systems allowed by international standards. The project is registered with the US Green Building Council as a candidate for LEED certification, silver category.
