Food derived from good refrigeration

The manufacturers of refrigeration equipment, provide their services to different lines of the economy, is the case of the food industry, which depends to a large extent on the implementation of adequate equipment and a good management of the cold chain for the conservation of the food they trade; special care must be taken in the case of poultry plants, because due to their characteristics, birds require a careful process when it comes to preserving their properties.

The role of refrigeration becomes important because it is fundamental in the process of preserving the product and its quality, that is, if there is a correct preservation process, the food will be fresher, more durable and will retain its properties, while a bad cold chain will cause the opposite and therefore, by losing quality, the price will be lower, economically affecting the industry. Therefore, it is important to bear in mind that a refrigeration plant for the poultry sector must be chosen according to the size of the poultry processor, in addition it must comply with the standards of the regulatory entities of each country. It also depends on the specific needs arising from  the type of marketing of the chicken, whether it is fresh or frozen, whole or in parts, which in turn allows to define the amount of energy necessary for the cooling and / or freezing process of the same. Another important aspect to take into account is the choice of refrigerant, currently the most recommended is the use of ammonia, one of its great advantages, is that it does not destroy the ozone layer and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect associated with global warming, it is a compound that is found in nature and its release into the atmosphere is immediately recycled.  However, there are still some plants that use freons because they are cheaper, however the efficiency of industrial ammonia systems is higher than those that use Freon.

Freon systems are a valid option, but they are recommended only for  relatively small capacities, on the other hand ammonia systems should be used for medium and large installations. Although the main attraction of Freon is its low cost, in many cases it is cheaper to have a large, centralized ammonia system rather than several small Freon systems. Although, ammonia also has its limitations, because if the refrigeration plant is located near or within an urban center, its use should be avoided, since a very careful handling of this refrigerant is required, due to the possible danger that it can generate to the environment of the plant due to its contamination. In this, as in all cases, regardless of the final objective of the refrigeration plant, installation decisions must be made, not seeking the greatest economy in the purchase and assembly of the equipment, but  based on its efficiency and low cost of operation in the future.
