United States. Ginger Scoggins, P.E., a member of ASHRAE, will serve as president of the Society for the 2023-2024 term. During his inaugural presidential address, Scoggins introduced the 2023-43 Year of Society theme, "Accepted Challenge: Addressing the Climate Crisis." The theme explores integrated solutions to address the effects of the climate crisis through meaningful building decarbonisation strategies.
"We live in a climate emergency," Scoggins said. "Our desire to be more comfortable has led us to a place where we need to make uncomfortable decisions. We can take up today's challenge regarding the impact of our buildings on the climate crisis by giving our members the knowledge they need to design and renovate buildings to address our industry's greenhouse gas emissions."
